How much does it cost to use the site?
Using AvMatch.com is free! Yes, it's 100% free to sign up, create a profile and use the site and all of its features! As a member, you can always send 'notes' to other members for free, and you also receive free Tokens ( for connections etc. ) each month which allow you to have full custom messaging with another member for 30 days. If you use all of your free monthly tokens, you can purchase additional tokens for as little as 39 cents each OR you can upgrade your account to a 'Premium Unlimited' membership for as little as $4 a month!


Is this for real life or SL™?
Our service offers you the ability to define your profile however you want. You can use AvMatch to find friends in SL only OR you can specify that you're looking for RL as well. It's up to you! You can add RL info to your profile if you wish, and you can keep that RL info hidden if you wish. You can also simply choose NOT to provide any RL info at all. The choice is yours!


How do I become a Member?
Becoming a Member is easy! Simply click the register link to your right and fill in your basic information. You will receive an email confirmation with activation information. Once your Membership is activated, you can login and begin using the basic Member features, such browsing profiles!


I did not receive my validation email! Help!
There is likely a very good reason that you didn't receive the valdation email. Some are below.
  1. You entered a wrong email address, or an old email address that you don't have access to.
  2. Your email inbox is full, so your email was bounced back.
  3. The email arrived in your Spam folder. This is unlikely, but it can occur.
  4. Your email service has a block on it that may require your attention.
Fine, so what should I do about it? Please see the following question about submitting a new valid email address!


I signed up with the wrong email address, or I spelled my email or name wrong. What should I do?
If you signed up with the wrong email address, if you spelled it wrong OR if you spelled your Avatar name wrong, please do the following. Login to Second Life and send an IM message to Mason Kingsford. You may wish to put it in a notecard first. Submit the proper email or Avatar correct spelling and we will then fix and let you know. If necessary, we will send you a new email validation.


I've lost my username, password and/or email that I signed up with! Now what?
We have multiple automated tools to help you recover lost information! On the site we have a Lost Password and a Lost Username form which can retrieve account info and email it to you. We also have a feature on the in-world kiosk that allows you to touch it and click 'Account' and it will show you your login username and email address! This is a very quick and easy way to find out your username and email on your account. If your email address is no longer valid, you will need to IM Mason Kingsford in-world with a notecard requesting that your email be changed.


How do I create my Profile?
Creating a profile is both easy and fun! But first you must be a 'verified' member. (see next question about becoming 'verified'.) Once verified, you can access the 'My Profile' pages which provide you with the tools and forms necessary to create your profile. You will need to upload at least one image of your avatar and you will be required to provide some basic information about yourself. How do I 'verify' my membership?
Verifying your membership helps us to assure other members that you are indeed an actual user of the virtual world Second Life®. All you need to do is log into Second Life, visit our Kiosk and touch it! If you provided your avatar name accurately when you signed up, it should verify you and you're done! Now you can log back into AvMatch.com and begin building your profile.


Why are you charging to use the site?
AvMatch.com charges small fees for extended use of our service. These small fees cover the basic expenses of developing, operating and maintaining AvMatch.com. Development, profile moderation, customer support, hosting and advertising are all on-going expenses that cost real-world time & money! The small fees involved bring in fresh, new members for you to meet, they cut down on spam, and help to weed out people who are not serious about meeting new friends. It's hard to complain when connections are only about 40 or so cents for 30 days! Faster than a postage stamp!


How can I pay for additional Tokens for connections or a Premium Membership?
Currently we are only accepting payment via $L (Linden Dollars) in-world at one of our kiosks (in-world means within Second Life®). The easiest way to start is to login and visit my account > membership & tokens. Here you can see your options and choose one. Then you visit our kiosk, click it, and you will be prompted to pay the correct amount automatically. Too easy! In the future, we intend to offer PayPal, which will allow payments directly through the site.


Do you have a forum?
We do not currently have a forum, and we probably won't have one, as it would undermine the purpose and functionality of our site. However, we will have a blog up soon.


Do you provide tech support?
In short, yes. We provide limited tech support to help you with problems you might have in using our site. Please contact us using our support page and we will get back to you as soon as we can. This may take a number of hours depending upon when you contact us.


If I add real life info to my profile, how do I keep it private, if I so choose?
Easy. In your profile preferences, there are some switches that you can set to keep some and/or all of your RL details private, including any RL pictures you upload. If you upload RL pictures, be sure to set the RL picture switch when you upload the image.


How many images can I upload?
You can currently upload up to 16 images! You can upload in .bmp, .jpg, .png or .tga formats. You have complete control over your images at all times, and once you delete them from the site, they are deleted for good. We recommend uploading .jpg or .png files though as .bmp and .tga files can take a long time to upload!


How do I upload images from SL™ to my AvMatch™ profile
Uploading images to your profile from SL is easy!
  1. First, in SL, click the snapshot button at the bottom of your screen. Select the save to hard drive option.
  2. If you already have the picture in your inventory (and you have copy permissions on it), you can save it to your drive by clicking 'File' at the upper left and then selecting Save As... Save your image to your drive somewhere that you can find easily.
  3. Next, login to your AvMatch account and visit My Profile > My Images. There you can select your file using the browse fields. Then click 'upload'. Give it a little time to upload and you are all set!
You have now added an image to your profile. You can upload up to 16 images to make your profile unique! Have fun.


How do members communicate with each other?
Your account includes an integrated mail system that allows you to send and recieve messages from users. Members can send pre-formatted 'notes' for free to break the ice, and members can send full custom messages with their 'connections'. You can also choose to receive notifications by email when you receive new messages. AvMatch also includes a live chat app that allows you to chat with your 'connections' in real time while logged into the site. Finally, members can now send other members private images anonymously via their private messages! You recieve your first private message image for free, and you can purchase 4 additional message images for one token.


What's the deal with Tokens and why do they expire?
Tokens are the basic way to open a connection with another member. You receive free tokens on sign up and additional free tokens each month. Tokens are a cheaper alternative to purchasing a monthly premium membership, which allows for unlimited text & chat messaging with other members that open a connection with you. A premium membership only lasts for as many months as you purchase. Therefore, purchased tokens will expire after 60 days. Free tokens expire after 30 days, but again, you will receive replacement free tokens each month. Please be aware that tokens do expire when deciding to purchase tokens or a premium membership. Finally, tokens can be used to change the display name on your profile, and they can now be used to purchase 'private message images'! This feature does what the name suggests, it allows you to send a private image to another AvMatch member anonymously via our integrated private message system.


Can I advertise on AvMatch.com?
Not at this time, but this will change again soon.


What's the best way to contact you?
The best way to contact us is through via a support ticket. You will see a 'support' link at the bottom of our site, select that and fill out a support ticket. We will always get back to you just as soon as we can.


Do you have an affiliate program?
No, we do not have an affiliate program active at this time. This may change in the future.

How does your referral program work, and what's in it for me?
We now have a new referral program! If you have a valid AvMatch account, and you refer someone to AvMatch.com and they input your name in the referral field when registering, you will be eligible for free gifts! What exactly? Well, if the new member decides to purchase tokens or a premium membership, you will receive free connection tokens based on their first purchase. If they purchase 5 connection tokens, you will receive 2 free tokens. If they purchase 12 connection tokens, you will receive 3 free tokens. And if they purchase a premium membership, you will receive 4 free tokens! Here are some rules that apply. You must have a completed and approved profile AND your account must be in good standing at the time they make their purchase. If you have deleted your account, or if it is incomplete and/or suspended for any reason, you will not be eligible. Also, you cannot refer yourself or alternate accounts created and/or operated by you. We reserve the right to determine your eligibility and if we believe you are referring yourself, or someone in your household, we will refuse the referral, without explanation or liability. Where are your kiosks located?
Kiosks allow you to verify your avatar in-world, as well as to pay for tokens or premium memberships. We currently have Kiosks located in-world at a few locations. Visit our 'Kiosk Locations' page for info and SLurl links.


Can I delete my account?
Of course you can! Login first and then visit your my account page here: 'My Account' Then find the delete button at the bottom of that page!
